CHLOE STALLY-GIBSON
PRODUCTION MANAGER & LIGHTING DESIGNER
FAIRVIEW
The Young Vic - 2019 - Production Assistant
I joined the Young Vic production team to work on Fairview as well as pre-prod work for 'Nora' for my work placement while at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Here I was able to work with two very experienced production managers one on one as well as engage with creative teams from two different west end shows and see how a production manager works alongside all departments 'in the real world' to create a wonderful piece of theatre.

THE ANGEL ESMERALDA
GSMD - 2019 - Production Manager
The Angel Esmeralda was a piece of new writing commissioned for Guildhall by Scottish Opera. I acted as the production manager to develop and produce this new piece and bring it to life. I created the production schedules, ran fit ups and meetings, managed the budget, and ensured that everything ran to plan!

OPERA SCENES AND OPERA MAKERS
GSMD - 2019/2020 - Production Manager
Throughout my time at Guildhall I have worked on almost every 'Opera Scenes' and 'Opera Makers' performance during my studies. I began as a production assistant in the 2018 Autumn Opera Scenes and then worked my way up to Deputy Production Manager for Spring Opera Scenes 2019 and then Production Manager for Opera Makers 2019 and 2020. These collections of scenes have been instrumental in my growth as a production manager as I was able to bring my past experience to each new production and focus on learning how to be the best manager I could be.

CAPITAL ORCHESTRA
LSO St. Luke's & Cadogan Hall | 2017-2020 | Lighting Designer
Capital Orchestra is a cross conservatoire jazz pop orchestra that I've worked for since 2017. Working with the group has been an amazing opportunity to push my boundaries outside of theatre into live events and concerts and I've loved working in the amazing venues that we've been able to perform in!

A CAPPELLA
Various Venues | 2017-2020 | Technical Manager, Production Assistant, & Lighting Designer
I started my professional theatre career at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2017 with an a cappella group called 'All the King's Men'. Since Then a cappella has remained a cornerstone in my career as I've gone on to work for several other groups including 'Sons of Pitches', 'Out of the Blue', 'Aquapella', and many more. This included a UK tour, 3 sold out fringe runs and working as a production assistant for the 2020 ICCAs in various venues across the UK.

SANE AND SOUND
Milton Court Theatre | 2019 | Lighting Designer
Sane and Sound is an original opera commissioned by the Barbican as a CoLAB project. It was written by up and coming composer Matthew Geer about his personal experience with Schizophrenia. This was one of the most powerful pieces I've ever had the pleasure to work on and the opportunity to engage with such a challenging and misunderstood topic made it very inspiring artistically.

VIRTUAL WORK
Online | 2020 | Production Manager
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak at the beginning of 2020, I was forced to complete my undergraduate degree at the Guildhall School online. Alongside my dissertation I undertook the role of Production Manager for the year's production of 'Opera Makers'. This was a role I also took on in the last academic year so I knew a little bit about what to expect going into the project but was overwhelmed by the new challenges and obstacles that would come through moving a show online. We did a 3D and 2D version of the show with the singers sending in audio and video recordings for the 2D version and the technical teams making 3D models of the actual set and costumes and etc.
I’ve learnt that you really need a good team to make this kind of project work! Making anything happen is five times as hard as you think it’s going to be - there’s way more attention to detail than you think there should be. For example, whereas in the real world the set designer would be able to go up to a table on the set and just re-arrange the props himself in about 5 minutes, it was a huge overnight job which included having to make technical drawings and adjust 3 different 3D models of the set!
